As a former pilgrim, I know exactly what it's like to stand under a warm, well-functioning shower after a day of walking. Then you can rest half lying down in your slippers and then enjoy a delicious meal including a drink with the B&B owner. Then exchange stories and laugh together and then look at the beautiful starry sky. Then sleep on a great mattress and wake up rested. When you get out of bed and open the window shutters, breathe in the fresh air and look out over the valley in the morning sun with cheerfully whistling birds. Ready for a hearty breakfast with fresh homemade bread, toppings, yogurt, milk and fruit. Ready to walk the next stage of via di Francesco with a smile. All this for 50 euros per person per night (dinner, drinks, overnight stay and breakfast) outside summer tourist season (without dinner 40 euros).
What to expect
How to get here, for the non official franziskusweg look further down the pace
Keep in mind that the bridge of Spoleto is closed it might takes two km more then expected. Two kilometers before (if you come from Assisi) or two kilometers after (if you come from Rome) is the village of Pontuglia. Walk into the village and there is a water basin with trout and ducks. Take one of the two stairs up, they end up at the same point. A black arrow can be seen on a stone. Follow the black markings (arrows and squares) for approximately 12 minutes walking through the forest until you arrive in Schioppo. You zigzag twice and then you look at the Tower and also the B&B Beep Beep, Tranquillo. Welcome

Fransiskusweg Don Bosco to my B&B in Schioppo
The Dutch / German Franziskusweg route from Don Bosco to Ferentillo and Patrico. The route from Don Bosco to Schioppo is 27 km, most of which is downhill and flat. Follow the route as described by your current guide to Ferentillo. Once you have passed the name sign Ferentillo, after a short while you will arrive at a small square with a bar Conti Arianna. Just past the square next to the road you are walking on, take the stairs down and follow this road. At the T junction keep right and follow the route along the Nero River.

This route is indicated with the yellow-blue flag, which you continue to follow. You will pass beautiful medieval villages in the mountains such as Umbriano, Terria, San Valentino, Civitella, Monte San Vito and the residential villa of the Longbeards that ruled this region after the fall of the Roman Empire. When you arrive at Ceselli, cross the bridge entirely according to the flag route. You have now covered 24 km, if you are tired I can come and pick you up by car in Ceselli. If you still have energy left, you can continue to Pontuglia. Arriving at Pontuglia, go right and then left. You walk in an ark under the houses and on your left (down the stairs) you will see a water basin of the water mill in which ducks and trout swim. From here on you can read the text "How to get here"at the top of the page
Back on the original Franciscusweg route. After a good breakfast, take the route back to Pontuglia and continue the flag route where you stopped yesterday. After about 1.5 kilometers you will arrive at the cemetery of Cese. Here you continue the path in the forest. At this T-junction the Franziskusweg and the Via di Francesco come together. Have fun walking. The stop in Patrico is recommended despite the short stage.
